Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT®)
We are proud to bring pain relief through Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT®) to the Fairbanks Foot and Ankle office. This new treatment option can benefit many conditions of the foot and ankle. From plantar fasciitis (heel pain) to tendonitis in the office.
EPAT® is an innovative, non-invasive way to treat pain. It is based on a unique set of pressure waves that stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood circulation, and accelerate the healing process. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals. As an alternative to surgery, the procedure includes 3-5 in-office sessions approximately 5-10 minutes each at weekly intervals.

Heel pain is typically the result of overuse but can be caused by a major injury. Heel pain usually occurs on the back or underside of your heel. Ankle pain or a sprain is often the result of a forceful twisting of the ankle causing a tear of ligaments in the ankle, in which no bones are broken.

Heel pain on the bottom, the front edge of the heel. Tenderness over the bottom of the foot. Pain, to varying degrees, when walking, which is usually worse in the morning and improves throughout the day. Ankle pain, swelling, bluish discoloration, pain with walking, slight increased warmth to the injured area.
